About KPV
KPV is a three-amino-acid peptide (lysine, proline, valine) that forms the tail end of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), a natural hormone known for its anti-inflammatory activity. Its tiny size has made it a focus of research into targeted inflammation control without α-MSH’s pigmentation effects.
Mechanism of interest
KPV is studied for its ability to enter cells and calm NF-κB inflammatory signaling, reducing the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. It is carried into cells by the PepT1 transporter, which is abundant in the intestinal lining.
